Fighting in Public: The New Frontier

Have you ever seen couples that fight on Facebook? No, well count yourself lucky. If you answered yes, then you know what I am talking about. Some couples have been found to leave little quips about their significant others in their status update. Once their significant other reads the update, they may response with a negative jab of their own. This may or may not turn into a full on exchange of name calling, berating and the online equivalent of throwing a plate across the room.
Friends and family are left wide eyed and jaw dropped as they wonder, "Don't they know that we can see what they are writing?"
It use to be that couples would choose a restaurant as their "make a scene" place. Now, arguing couples can do it from the comfort of their own home. Quite possibly even fighting via social media with a partner who is in the next room. Instead of communicating in an effective manner face to face, they choose to argue it out online.
Why? What are your thoughts?
