| The Mindset List: What Do You Mean a Telephone Use to Have a Cord? |
|
According to The Mindset List for the Class of 2014, put out by Beloit College, the Class of 2014 has emerged as a post-email generation who finds the current digital world and technology too slow. They find e-mail to be so slow that they do not use it, they text instead, they do not wear wrist watches because their smart phone has a clock and would never remember a time where a telephone had a cord. Each year since 1998 Beloit College has released it’s annual Mindset List which provides a look at the cultural touchstones that shape the lives of students, who will enter college in the fall. The Mindset List breaks down the year into a list of 75 items that the class of 2014 may have never experienced in their lives, such as the use of cursive, snail and would never have seen a time that a computer didn't have a CD Rom. I found the Mindset List fascinating and was wondering what your take on it is? Do you think the generation of today is ahead of their time, right on target or behind? Do you think that the technology is too slow for today’s digital world? Leave your comments below!
